It has been almost a year since May Mayor, Carmina Bautista and Perry Francisco stepped up to the challenge and volunteered to spearhead the UPCN Wish List Fund Raising Committee of the UPNAAI, Faculty Endowment and Enhancement Fund. We thank the assistance that the UPNAAI leadership provided us, especially Dors Maligalig, Chato Ansay, President Emy Goodrich and Treasurer Irene Bobis-Roldan. The University of the Philippines, College of Nursing, Dean Peng Tuazon was there cheering on the efforts and strategies. The first campaign drive was launched on August 6-7, 2011 at the New York City UPNAAI Homecoming.

The very spirited and festive reunion events on Friday & Saturday events provided a time for renewals, reconnecting and “back to the past” experiences. There was an overwhelming outpour of enthusiasm and support. The Gala night brought checks and cash donation of over $2,000.00. Pledges were more than we ever imagined and expected. UP Nursing Class ’68 and Class ’69 came out of the barn, fast and early. We extend our thanks to Class Champions Nati Octaviano-Matitu ‘68 and Gloria Amayun- Smitka ’69. They have put out the challenge to their respective classes and started collecting any amount, with a clear and measurable goal for their classmates. Together, they have already turned in more than $10,000.00 dollars. On behalf of UPNAAI membership, we would like to acknowledge them and applaud their efforts. They are the role-models for many who have fire in their guts to start and be counted as a Class Champion. You can do it too!

UPNAAI is a 501(c) 3, non-profit organization with a mission and vision that impact Nursing. This provides all UP Nursing alumni, friends and relatives the opportunity to give and make a difference. Our UP beloved needs us, more than at anytime in our lives. We ask that you leave a LEGACY that will go beyond our lifetime. Give your TIME, TALENT, and a little of your wealth and/or TREASURE to UPNAAI. After all, if not now, when?
